Ing. Mag. (FH) Andreas Matthä was born in 1962 in Villach, Carinthia. After graduating from a higher technical education institute (HTL) in Vienna, he started his career at ÖBB, the Austrian Federal Railways, in 1982 in the department of construction management and bridge engineering. Andreas Matthä later attended a University of Applied Sciences and graduated with distinction in Management & Entrepreneurship. After holding different leading positions he became head of controlling and finance at ÖBB-Infrastruktur Bau AG in 2005. Three years later Andreas Matthä was appointed, first spokesman and member of the executive board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur Bau AG, and in 2009 became member of the executive board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG. In May 2016 Andreas Matthä was appointed – at first interim – chairman of the executive board of ÖBB-Holding AG, the strategic parent company of the ÖBB group. As CEO, Andreas Matthä is responsible for more than 40.000 employees in 18 countries. He further holds the position of chairman of the supervisory board at ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG, Rail Cargo Austria AG, Q Logistics and is deputy chairman of ÖBB-Business Competence Center GmbH.
