Jürgen Schneider studied chemistry at the University of Vienna and finished his PhD in 1994. After his PhD, he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Botany at the University of Vienna. In 1995, Mr. Schneider joined the Umweltbundesamt in Vienna. From 2002 to 2004, he worked as a project manager for the WHO in Bonn/Germany. In 2004, Mr. Schneider joined again the Umweltbundesamt as a director of the Department of Air Quality Control. In 2007, Mr. Schneider was appointed head of the programme ‘Economy and Impact’. Mr. Schneider is a member of several national and international expert panels and boards in the field of energy and climate change. He also published several relevant reports and articles. Since 08/2018 he is working at the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism.
