EXCURSION 1:
Waste-to-Energy – Incineration Plant Pfaffenau and Simmering Waste Logistics Centre

The incineration plant produces heat and electricity from residual waste, thereby supplying e.g. 50,000 Viennese households with district heating. So the plant with best environmental technology prevents domestic fuel emissions..

The Simmering Waste Logistics Centre is located right beside Pfaffenau Waste Incineration Plant. This high-tech installation serves for the processing of bulky waste and if required the interim storage of residual waste. In Vienna no residual waste goes untreated to landfill, which would lead to greenhouse gas emissions.
