AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT Annual Report 2018
The AWS Annual Report 2018 showcases not only the results and publications of the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT 2018 but also diverse activities with our network of partners throughout the year. Outlining thematic priorities, as well as cross-cutting priorities have been guiding us to the next steps and focal topics for 2019.
AWS Contribution to the UN TALANOA-DIALOGUE
The AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT is part of the UN Talanoa Dialogue which was the first opportunity for Party and non-Party Stakeholders to contribute their perspectives into the negotiations of the COP24 meeting in Poland. The Fijian (COP23) and Polish Presidencies (COP24) will synthesize the information and insights gained during the “Talanoa year 2018” to provide a strong evidence-based foundation for the political phase of the Talanoa Dialogue at the COP. The wrap-up of all Talanoa submissions will take place in the first week of COP24 also considering implications of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C.

Numerous companies and organizations followed our call for Best Practice Projects focusing on Biomass & Waste to Energy. The top ten projects have been selected and assessed in this Special Report and they also were part of the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT 2018. The selected companies and organisations all have one thing in common: They make a significant contribution to realise sustainable projects with their technologies and know-how in developing and emerging countries. The report identifies success factors and policy recommendations for future projects.
The call was part of the brainbows Post-Paris-Navigator, an initiative supported by the Austrian Development Agency and the Austrian Economic Chambers.
